Give Kids a Smile Day (GKAS) at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry is part of a series of events held around the country under the American Dental Association’s foundation, Give Kids a Smile. At the University of Michigan, the event is planned by students under faculty mentor, Dr. Larry Salzmann. GKAS is an annual, student-run event where faculty, dental students and dental hygiene students provide free dental care for children ages 4-14 years old.

Our mission is to provide the underserved pediatric populations of the southeast Michigan community with much needed oral health care as well as education to prevent dental disease and promote lifelong oral health. In addition, we also serve to introduce dental students and dental hygiene students to a free clinic environment and help them gain experience through participation in service and community outreach.

On Saturday morning, March 16th 2024, children ages 4-14 will be seen FREE (regardless of insurance status) for dental exams, x-rays, cleanings and sealants based on first come first serve. You must pre-register your child(s) using the ONLINE FORM in the REGISTER HERE! tab.
